This teaching English volunteer program enables you to explore Nepal as a local. In Nepali society teacher is regarded as everything and has high prestigious position. English Teaching in Nepali Community Schools Program targets international volunteers who are looking to take part in a hands-on, Nepali classroom experience. In these local schools, you as a volunteer will not only teach the English language, but will also engage in an effort to teach the children how to apply those language skills in various extracurricular activities.
Teaching English project enables volunteers to gain teaching experience in public and private schools across Nepal. The country’s lack of financial and physical resources, as well as the mountainous geography, make good quality education difficult to access for many students. Volunteers provide an important opportunity for these students to hone their English skills by practicing with and learning from a fluent speaker. This can help improve their future job prospects and lead to eventual financial security.
In Nepal, each school has its own English teachers who may be available to assist volunteers with teaching methods, offer advice on solving communication barriers, or simply providing suitable curricula for the classroom. English teaching volunteers do not have to be native English speakers. During holidays and slow periods, volunteers can also help local teachers create teaching resources and design effective lessons plans, as well as co-teach certain lessons. Your activities as a Volunteer:
As a volunteer English Teacher in Nepal you will assist local teachers or lead your own classes in public or private schools depending on your program duration and the need for volunteers at the time. Students generally have a good grasp of English already and are eager to learn more to enhance their later job prospects.You might also be asked to train local teachers and take part in other activities like games, painting, music, sanitation, computers and arts. Nepali schools follow fixed courses for teaching English. However, you’re welcome to implement your own method.

Organizing other school activities, such as sports or sanitation programs.
It’s important to be aware that volunteers may be required to teach other subjects including math, science and social studies.
Project skills required:
Prior experience in teaching English is desired but not required. You’ll need to have sound communication skills in English. Volunteers should also be flexible, self-motivated and have a strong willingness to learn and take new initiatives.

Airport Pickup at Tribhuvan International Airport
We will well organize airport pick up by personal car either comfortable transportation to our hostel. On receipt of your flight details, WVN will organize an airport pick up and drop off to your accommodation in Kathmandu (this will not exceed 2 nights). This is covered by your program fee and as such there will be no charge and we will endeavor to be on time. We cannot be held accountable for problems such as traffic jams but we will do our best to meet you punctually. Also please note that we are not allowed into the Arrivals Hall of the airport so we will meet you just outside the main EXIT Hall with a name plate with WVN logo. The area is not big and it should be easy to find each other. Please note that any offers to carry your luggage will come from outside parties (not WVN staff) so if you are approached and accept, you will be expected to pay a tip. We strongly advise not to accept those services as it encourages begging. Should you leave the country immediately after the volunteering / internship, WVN staff can drop you at the airport.
Details on arrival
The program orientation begins any time of the month. When you arrive, you will be greeted at the airport by a member of WVN team and transported to the hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. Your accommodation is covered by your program fees and includes the night before your program Orientation. If you are traveling in Nepal prior to your volunteer program, we can arrange for you to be picked up at a prearranged destination in Kathmandu on the day before your program orientation.
Orientation is hosted by WVN team in Kathmandu and runs for 2 days. Orientation begins on the morning of your chosen start date and cover everything you need to know your volunteer program in Nepal.
After orientation 3rd day volunteer must have to travel to chitwan because the most of volunteer health project is in chitwan. And project will be start from 4th day of your arrival.
Accommodation
Volunteers will live at the host family or homestay near the project. Accommodation is basic but comfortable. The rural located project accommodation are more simple and without the western style toilets, not hot showers we request to volunteer can not expect the luxury accommodation in rural project. The Accommodation in urban is more Modern.
Accommodation in Nepal is comfy but generally very basic. Particularly in rural locations most accommodation will have western style toilets however some options only have Indian style squat toilets so be prepared.
Food & Beverages
We only provide food when they are in the homestay/host family. Three meal of day with tea and coffee. We do not provide hard drink and no allowed to hard drink at the homestay/host family. Food is very simple and extremely delicious. Food during your placement is included in the program fee. You should receive two to three meals a day throughout the placement, which will be of a Nepali standard, usually Daal–Bhat (lentil soup – rice), vegetable curry, pickle etc. If you wish to supplement your diet with other food, these expenses are yours. We will only cover food and accommodation for the period agreed for your placement and only at your placement.
If you go trekking or wish to stay in Nepal after your agreed period of placement, you will be responsible for your own expenses. If you decide to go away during your placement we cannot refund you any money and you do this at your own cost. In most cases you will be staying with a host family after the program orientation and will share the same food with them. Should you have any dietary conditions, you should let us know before your arrival in Nepal. Should you wish to return to the city at the weekends, you must cover your food and accommodation costs yourself. In case you want to make any trips during your placement, the period is still counted within regular placement time and that time won’t be extended to your date.
