Your duty as skilled volunteer
If you are veterinary student or researcher you can make research on Elephants regarding their behavior, or on Elephant tuberculosis a chronic disease that has affected much the captive elephants in Nepal. For such research programs the permission of Nepal government is essential. If your requirements meet, we will help you in it.
Your duty as General Elephant Volunteer
A Typical Volunteer day
You will assist to take care of the elephants of a resort located in Chitwan national park. The Elephants usually go Safari around 6:00 am with tourists each morning till 10 am. Then Elephants are taken for drinking water and bathing. The Elephants do not bath during winter. The Mahouts prepare food till 2:00 pm and at 2:00 pm the elephants are taken for Safari for tourists again. until 5:00 pm. Your main duty is to help in preparing food, help in bathing and work for the special care of the elephants while they are staying in the Elephant center. Grass is main food of elephants and they also eat leaves, twigs, bamboo, bark, roots, fruit, seeds and flowers. Elephants only digest about 40% of the food they eat as they have poor digestive systems. This means they have to eat lots of food to make sure they get all the nutrients they need. Elephant are given special food containing molasses inside covered with hay or grass.

Each day will be different and Elephant care volunteer tasks may include.
Feeding and giving water to the Elephant
Help with the cleaning of the enclosures
housing down and washing the elephants
harvesting and collecting food etc..
Who can join This program?
Everybody who can strong interest with caring animals. Volunteer must be 18 years old in this program.
Requirements:- There are no specific requirements for the programs. However the best things you can have are patience and a genuine desire to teach, plus a sense of humor!
Accommodation:- A simple room with a bed. We advise you to bring sleeping bag and mosquito net with you. Or you can always buy here which is 2-3 times cheaper than back home.
Meals:- Breakfast occurs at 7:00 am and consists of a cup of tea and biscuits. Lunch is served at 11:30 am and usually dall/bhat( rice, lentils and vegetable) dinner is at around 7:00 pm and is once more dall/bhat. The food is very simple but also extremely delicious and filling.
Start date:- Are very flexible, minimum time of stay in this program is one weeks and the maximum stay is five months in Nepal.
